Common issues we resolve

The array is healthy, but a mixed workload has unpredictable latency.

We distinguish cache effectiveness, disk contention, aggregate design, host/protocol behavior, and a capacity-driven workload change. Hybrid systems need an evidence-based answer; adding flash or changing a setting without understanding the hot set can mask the issue temporarily.

Flash Pool expectations do not match observed performance.

We review aggregate placement, workload access patterns, available SSD capacity, and configuration context. Flash Pool is not a universal acceleration switch, and cache-related symptoms may coexist with RAID, disk, or host-path problems.

A DS2246 or DS4246 shelf reports intermittent disk/path events.

We correlate drive errors with shelf IOM state, SAS paths, cabling, power, and controller-side views. This prevents a sequence of unnecessary drive swaps when the underlying fault domain is the shelf or path.
